Main Street Farmers Market
Our Market was established in 2003. We are committed to our non-profits who are selected each week to highlight their contribution to the community. Local musicians are also featured each week to entertain those who visit to shop for their needed items. We also are affiliated with the state of PA SNAP program for the less fortunate who use the food stamp programs.
Join Us Every Thursday
We bring our community together to support our local farms for produce, dairy and meats weekly each Thursday from May until October.
Washington City Mission
City Mission is a Christ centered homeless and rehabilitation shelter providing housing and services for men, women and children in need. We exist to share Christ, to shelter, to heal and to restore the homeless to independent living.
Donate to City Mission
We would like to encourage all students that would like to be environmentally conscious and also help our community, to consider donating to the City Mission. We would love the opportunity to recycle or take your donated items and continue to do our part to help the environment and the homeless. All clothing and most dorm items can be donated at any stores and all furniture would need to be taken to our warehouse.
Center for Coalfield Justice
The Center for Coalfield Justice was formed as the “Tri-State Citizens Mining Network” in 1994 by a coalition of grassroots groups and individuals concerned about the effects coal mining had on communities and the environment. Their mission today is to improve policy and regulations for the oversight of fossil fuel extraction and use; to educate, empower and organize coalfield residents; and to protect public and environmental health.
Washington County Conservation District
The purpose of the Washington County Conservation District is to preserve our county’s soil, water and related natural resources by avoiding practices contributing to soil wastage and soil erosion. We communicate with our partner conservation organizations to identify ways to achieve goals and enhance success towards sustainable natural resource management. Through the District we help local citizens manage these important resources by demonstrating proper farm practices, surveying potential land disturbances, issuing permits, and following regulations. The Washington County Conservation District continues to manage and offer programs to serve our community.

Agriculture Program
This department works with the local agricultural community to educate and assist with Conservation Planning (Nutrient Management (NMP) and Manure Management Plans (MMP)) and installation of Agricultural Best Management Practices (BMPs).
Dirt, Gravel, Low Volume Road Program
This department provides education, outreach, and grant funding to eligible entities within Washington County to implement safe, efficient, and environmentally sound maintenance of eligible roads to prevent sedimentation and pollution in local waterways.
Erosion & Sedimentation Program
This department reviews Erosion and Sedimentation (E&S) Control Plans for earth disturbance activities to ensure approved E&S BMPs are used and authorizes use of National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permits in accordance with PA Code 25, Chapter 102.
Education and Outreach Program
The staff of the WCCD work to educate the community on conservation practices and their benefits to soil and water quality. The WCCD hosts the Washington County Envirothon, a high school science competition, each year; part of the larger State and International Envirothon competitions.
Watershed Program
This department works to assess the water quality of the county. The staff work with local volunteer groups, landowners, and local government entities to install projects for water quality improvement, provide technical assistance, and education.
Water Obstruction and Encroachment Program
Reviews PA Code 25, Chapter 105 General Permits while assisting landowners, municipalities and consultants in Washington County with various aspects of the program through education and technical assistance to protect waterways and wetlands.
